Immediately after secession, the Confederate States of America began to issue its own money as legal tender to citizens of the south. Notes were issued in three series from 1862-1864. All were painstakingly hand numbered and had rough edges as the sheets of notes were cut by hand. These $10 notes of 1864 are the last notes of the Confederacy, printed just prior to the defeat of the CSA
